Ioan Gruffudd cites ‘irreconcilable differences’ in divorce papers after splitting from wife Alice Evans on New Year’s Day

Ioan Gruffudd has cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ in divorce papers to finalise the end of his marriage to wife Alice Evans.

The Liar actor filed for divorce earlier this month several weeks after 102 Dalmatians actress Alice claimed he had ‘walked out’ on the family.

Divorce papers now show that Ioan, 47, signed the papers which were later filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court in February and cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their split.

The date of separation is listed as New Year’s Day.

A note on the document states that the estranged spouses are in a ‘collaborative process and intend to resolve all issues including spousal support by written agreement’.

Ioan and Alice, 49, share two daughters; Ella, 11, and Elsie, seven.

Following news that Ioan had filed for divorce, Alice spoke out and claimed that she didn’t know he had made the move to end their 13-year marriage.

Alongside a photo of an article, the actress commented: ‘Oh. Ok. Thanks for letting me know. I guess?’

The pair began dating in 2000 after meeting on the set of 102 Dalmatians and tied the knot in 2007.

Earlier this year, Alice posted a message on Instagram revealing that she and Ioan were discussing legal separation.

She wrote: ‘It must be weird to comprehend why somebody would share their pain on social media rather than with their nearest and dearest.

‘I get that. You must think I’m an a**hole. I’m not though. I don’t have a mum, or a dad. I don’t have any close friends in LA. I’ve looked after my kids for half their lives alone. My husband knows that.’

She has since defended her right to continue speaking out about their heartbreaking separation and said: ‘I’m scared that my little girls will be disappointed by their Dads behavior and model that in their future relations with the opposite sex. ( I did not find out my father was a s*** until I was about 32 years abs I’m convinced that that made me the woman I am today. After a certain age, they can’t take it away from you!

‘I’m also scared of my ex-husband’s response to the fact that I had commented on his sudden decision to serve me. I know he’ll be angry. ( he is always angry – he was born angry).’

She added: ‘I’m sorry but f*** your discomfort about my lack of dignity. F*** your cheap quips about how “she didn’t know!” Ha ha ha what a load of b*****ks.’

Ioan and Alice shared a joint statement confirming their split but he has not personally spoken publicly about the situation.
