It was an emotional night in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! castle tonight with David Ginola walking away in tears after reading Danny Miller’s letter from home.
Before the second elimination of the series, the 10 remaining contestants were treated to messages from their loved ones.
Former footballer David, who has formed a close friendship with Emmerdale actor Danny, had the task of reading out his letter and was so overcome with emotion by the end that he had to take himself away for a little breather.
‘Dear Daddy, it’s Steph and Albert here,’ he said aloud. ‘He recognises your voice on the telly and looks up at it when he hears you. I really think he looks more and more like you every day.
‘We all love watching your relationship with David blossom. Thank you, David for looking after our boy.”’
David tearfully continued: ‘Finally, remember what I tell you every day, you are strong, you are wise… we feel extra lucky to call you ours.
‘You are our daddy, our only daddy, you make us happy when skies are grey. My first ever love and my last.’
David then walked away from the group as he tried to compose himself, with Danny following him out and giving him a big old hug.
‘I’m proud of you, it was beautiful,’ David told him. ‘They love you so much.’
David in the Telegraph said: ‘I try to control most of the time my emotions, but sometimes it’s good to let them go.’
Elsewhere, Simon Gregson read Naughty Boy’s letter from his sister Saira and niece Aisha.
‘I’m so proud of you and we’re missing you so incredibly much,’ he said. ‘It’s been amazing to watch your journey and how far you’ve come from your self-doubts to overcoming your fears and becoming more and more confident.
‘Mum is doing well and is missing you lots. You can see how proud she is. She talks to you through the TV, it’s the cutest thing. Keep at it, stay strong.’
Reacting to the message, Naughty Boy beamed: ‘It was more than I could imagine, how proud they are. I couldn’t ask for more.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Tuesday at 9pm on ITV.
