British actress Hayley Atwell, best known for her role as Peggy Carter in the Marvel Studios films, has been cast as the voice of Lara Croft in the upcoming “Tomb Raider” anime series from Legendary Television and Netflix.
The story will serve as a continuation that picks up after the events of Square Enix’s “Tomb Raider” highly acclaimed reboot video game trilogy that included 2013’s “Tomb Raider,” 2015’s “Rise of the Tomb Raider” and 2018’s “Shadow of the Tomb Raider”.
The series will be executive produced by Tasha Huo, who also writes. Atwell is best known for portraying Peggy Carter across the Marvel universe in numerous films and recently has been shooting a major role in the upcoming “Mission: Impossible 7”.
The project follows in the wake of two previous early 2000 live-action films starring Angelina Jolie and a 2018 reboot starring Alicia Vikander. Keeley Hawes and Camilla Luddington voiced the character over the 2006 and 2013 game trilogies respectively.
