Harry Kane in contention to make Tottenham comeback against Wolves

Harry Kane is in contention to make his Tottenham comeback against Wolves on Sunday.

The England skipper’s future remains the subject of intense speculation but with Manchester City yet to submit an offer that would tempt Spurs chairman Daniel Levy into selling his prize asset, Kane’s immediate future remains in north London.

Kane returned late to pre-season training following his exploits with the Three Lions at Euro 2020 and missed last Sunday’s victory over the Premier League champions, as well as the midweek Europa League Conference defeat against Pacos de Ferreira.

According to The Sun, however, Kane will travel with the rest of the Spurs squad to Molineux and is likely to start on the bench.

City, for their part, remain interested in signing Kane having failed to directly replace Sergio Aguero, who left at the end of last season to join Barcelona.

In order to sign last season’s Premier League Golden Boot winner, City would need to smash the British transfer record for the second time this summer with Jack Grealish setting them back a cool £100million.

City’s attack was easily blunted last weekend in north London, but despite the apparent need to add a focal point to their forward line Pep Guardiola claimed on Friday that he was more than happy to persist without Kane.

When asked if he was happy with their current incomings in a press conference, Guardiola replied: ‘Absolutely. More than happy.

‘It is the same team, except Sergio [Aguero] for Jack Grealish, that we had last season.’
