Should the upcoming Paramount+ series adaptation of the “Halo” video game franchise score a renewal order, it’ll get a new showrunner – its third.
No decision has been made on a renewal as yet and no deal is in place for a season two showrunner, but first season co-showrunners Steven Kane and Kyle Killen have reportedly both exited those duties with the end of the first season.
Kane, who primarily oversaw physical production on the first season in Budapest over two years, will apparently stay on as a consultant for a potential second season.
Executive producer Justin Falvey has apparently indicated David Wiener (“Fear the Walking Dead”) could be the one to end up taking the reins for a follow-up, but whatever happens Falvey sees the show as potentially running for several seasons.
The series has seen multiple shifts from directors (Otto Bathurst replaced Rupert Wyatt) to release platforms (Paramount+ replaced Showtime). However the key producers, including Steven Spielberg, game publisher 343 Studios and Showtime itself, have remained involved for years.
“Halo” is set to premiere March 24th.
