British scribe Joe Barton has been hired to pen the script for another entry on the monster-fuelled “Cloverfield” film franchise for Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot.
While it’s the fourth film overall set in this universe, this will serve as much more of a direct follow-up to the original J.J. Abrams-produced and Matt Reeves-directed 2008 feature than either “10 Cloverfield Lane” or “The Cloverfield Paradox” were.
Unlike the 2008 film though, this will not be in the found footage format, but further details on this take are under wraps. Abrams and Hannah Minghella will produce.
While Reeves is not involved, he has an other connection to the project – Barton was recently hired to serve as showrunner on “Gotham P.D.,” the upcoming HBO Max TV series that serves as a prequel to Reeves’ “The Batman”. He’s best known for the acclaimed crime drama “Giri/Haji” for BBC2 and Netflix.
