Man Utd will take their sweet time over replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while Newcastle are chasing a director of football and a new goalkeeper…

MAN UTD WON’T BE RUSHED OVER SOLSKJAER

Manchester United are still perfectly content to leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dangling…

There is barely a soul outside the Old Trafford boardroom who believes the manager can turn around the Red Devils wretched form, even if Rio Ferdinand has broken ranks to become one of the first of the Norwegian’s former team-mates to suggest that a change is necessary.

But the Manchester Evening News says United are no closer to putting Solskjaer out of his misery and, instead, they are content to let the manager carry on until a replacement is ready.

Given this board’s track record, Christ knows when that might be.

There is a change of sorts coming: Ed Woodward is due to step down from his role as executive vice-chairman before the New Year, but fear not, United fans – the Daily Mail says Woowah will remain at the club in a consultancy role. Phew.

LAMPARD UNDECIDED OVER NORWICH JOB

As reported yesterday, Frank Lampard has held talks with Norwich over becoming their new manager.

But the ex-Chelsea boss is said to be undecided over whether to take the job, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Lampard is one of three names said to be in contention. Dean Smith is one, says The Telegraph, after he was sacked by Aston Villa, while Sky Sports claims Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is in the frame.

NEWCASTLE EYE LAZIO STOPPER

Newcastle have finally appointed their new manager, with Eddie Howe confirmed as the new Magpies boss on Monday afternoon.

Now, they need a director of football, even if it would have made sense to recruit for that role first before hiring a coach.

The Telegraph reckons Michael Emenalo is the leading candidate for the gig. The former Chelsea chief apparently held talks with the Newcastle top brass in Saudi Arabia.

The Magpies are also being linked with a new goalkeeper. The Sun says they will move for Lazio stopper Thomas Strakosha in the January window.

SPURS, ARSENAL TARGET VALUED AT £60M

Dusan Vlahovic is set to be one of the leading names involved in the winter window, but Fiorentina striker certainly won’t come cheap.

Tottenham and Arsenal are said to be leading the race for the 21-year-old, with Antonio Conte’s appointment nudging Spurs ahead.

Juventus were keen too but the Old Lady has been priced out of the market, with La Nazione reporting that Fiorentina are expecting £60million to sell the forward mid-season.

Apparently, La Viola would prefer to keep Vlahovic until the end of the season, when his price will surely plummet because his contract expires in 2023.
