General Hospital’s Kirsten Storms has revealed that she is ‘on the mend’ after having brain surgery.

The actress is well known for playing Maxie Jones on the American drama series, a role she’s had since 2005.

Kirsten, 37, shared an update with her Instagram followers, revealing that she had had surgery earlier this week.

‘So I’ve not really spoken about this much or at all actually. Less than 48 hours ago I had brain surgery, hence the neck brace, it was on the lower portion of my brain,’ Kirsten said, gesturing to the green brace around her neck.

The former Zenon star also mentioned that her friend and former co-star, Emme Rylan, is taking care of her.

She added that it had been an ‘interesting couple of days’ as the surgery was to remove ‘a very large cyst that had split into two’.

‘What they had to drain and remove was not cancer — I want to clarify that right now before the internet goes crazy wild with rumours about this,’ she explained.

‘I had a very large cyst that had split into two and the doctor said it was like so full the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull, sounds so weird.’

In terms of her recuperation, the actress stated that she intends to take a few weeks off before returning to work.

‘So I will be on the mend for the next several weeks but I will be back at work when this is over with,’ Kirsten clarified.

Prior to her role on General Hospital, Kirsten played Belle Black on Days Of Our Lives and also Zenon in the sci-fi Disney Channel movie trilogy.

The soap star shares daughter Harper Rose, seven, with ex-husband and former General Hospital co-star Brandon Barash.
