Gaffigan Is Smee In Disney’s “Peter Pan”

Comedian and actor Jim Gaffigan has been cast as Captain Hook’s boatswain Mr. Smee in the live-action adaptation of their animated film based on J.M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan” at Disney Pictures.

Filmmaker David Lowery, who previously remade “Pete’s Dragon” for the studio, helms the project which also stars Jude Law as Captain Hook, Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, and newcomers Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson.

Barrie’s story has been adapted for the screen numerous times with Smee voiced by Bill Thompson in 1953, played by Bob Hoskins in 1991’s “Hook,” Richard Briers in the 2003 “Peter Pan,” and Adeel Akhtar in 2015’s “Pan”.

Lowery and Toby Halbrooks co-wrote the script for the new film.
