FX on Hulu has canceled its series adaptation of the acclaimed comic “Y: The Last Man” which is still two weeks away from airing its finale.

The series follows the survivors of a cataclysmic event that kills every animal on Earth with a Y chromosome except for one man (Ben Schnetzer) and his monkey. Diane Lane, Ashley Romans, Olivia Thirlby, Juliana Canfield, Elliot Fletcher, Marin Ireland, Amber Tamblyn, and Diana Bang co-starred.

Series showrunner Eliza Clark shared the news through her Twitter on Sunday, thanking the show’s creative team for their partnership and expressing hope the series would be able to continue its run elsewhere.

“Y: The Last Man” spent many years in development as a film, was retooled as a TV series, and then did a pilot that was reshot until the adaptation arrived last month. Reviews at the show’s launch were good but soft with acclaim focusing on the various performances.
