Netflix has released the first photo of “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara as infamous Colombian businesswoman turned cartel crimelord Griselda Blanco in the upcoming six-episode limited series “Griselda”.
Made by the same team behind “Narcos,” the series explores the prolific drug lady from the 1980s through the early 2000s. Griselda was a key member of the Medellin Cartel, the criminal organization founded and led by Pablo Escobar, and was responsible for introducing cocaine smuggling to Escobar himself.
She was also reportedly responsible for up to 200 murders and became the first-ever billionaire female criminal.
Also starring in the series are Alberto Guerra, Vanessa Ferlito, Alberto Ammann, Christian Tappan, Diego Trujillo, Paulina Davila, Gabriel Sloyer, Juliana Aiden Martinez, Martin Rodriguez and Jose Zuniga.
Vergara also executive produces the series with Ingrid Escajeda (“Justified”) and Doug Miro (“Narcos”) serving as co-showrunners and writers. Eric Newman, Carlo Bernard, and Andre Baiz also executive produce with Baiz directing all six episodes.
The series doesn’t yet have an air date.
