“Fantastic Beasts 3” Delays Depp Heard Trial?

Johnny Depp has requested that the defamation lawsuit trial against ex-wife Amber Heard be delayed – all due to his filming commitments for the David Yates-directed third “Fantastic Beasts” film at Warner Bros. Pictures reports Deadline.

After numerous delays, filming is set to pick back up again in the UK starting in October and possibly end in February which would conflict with the trial which is set for January 2021. Depp requested that the trial be postponed until sometime between March and June 2021.

Heard may agree as the actress is expected to shoot the “Aquaman” sequel sometime next year and so will have scheduling conflicts of her own. Heard has agreed to meet on September 11th to discuss the potential delay and that the postponement “would not entail any prejudice to her, much less unfair prejudice”.

Depp filed the $50 million defamation suit against Heard in 2019 for an 2018 op-ed published in the Washington Post wherein she wrote about sexual and domestic violence.
