Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo, coming off a memorable six season on Amazon’s “The Expanse,” has joined the cast of Chris McKay’s dark comedy take on the Dracula tale with “Renfield” at Universal Pictures.
The story centers on Renfield (Nicholas Hoult), the insane acolyte who has grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s (Nicolas Cage) lackey.
The henchman finds a new lease on life and maybe even redemption when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina).
Aghdashloo will play Ella, a bold woman who is one of the most feared crime lords in the city. Adrian Martinez and Ben Schwartz also star.
Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”) crafted the original story outline and Ryan Ridley (“Ghosted,” “Rick and Morty”) wrote the script. Filming is taking place in New Orleans.
Aghdashloo will soon be seen in the second season of HBO Max’s “The Flight Attendant”.
