Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) contemplated suicide in EastEnders tonight (December 31), but as he opened up to Joe from the Samaritans, he realised Katy Lewis (Simone Lahbib) had abused him when he was a child.
Mick was left in shock when Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis) claimed to be his daughter, as such a thing would mean that Katy had abused him when he was 12.
He started to piece together the truth, but Katy’s manipulation resulted in him feeling unable to trust his memories.
He’s been struggling for months, and he’s been pushing Linda (Kellie Bright) away.
Feeling alone, he called the Samaritans, and spoke to a man named Joe.
He opened up about how he’d been going through a difficult time, and it soon became apparent that he was contemplating taking his own life.
Mick headed over to The Queen Vic, and stood on the roof of the iconic boozer — preparing himself to jump.
Having heard Mick become emotional at the mention of Katy, Joe quizzed him about his past, encouraging him to open up.
Flashbacks — seemingly memories of Mick’s — revealed that Katy had manipulated him when he was 12 like he’d initially thought.
What’s more, she took him to her home, where she led him up the stairs to the bedroom.
As the episode came to a close, the revelation dawned on Mick: Katy did abuse him.
‘She abused me,’ he told Joe, ‘I’m a victim’.
EastEnders continues New Year’s Day at 8pm on ITV.
