FX chief John Landgraf has announced that “Alien” mastermind Ridley Scott is in advanced talks to executive produce a TV series set in the”Alien” universe which is being showrun by “Fargo” and “Legion” creator Noah Hawley.
Hawley will serve as creator/executive producer on the series being made by Scott Free and 26 Keys for FX. Landgraf says the story will be set “not too far into our future” and will be the first “Alien” story set on Earth (he wasn’t including the two “Alien vs. Predator” films in that line).
Tone wise he says the aim is to “blend both the timeless horror of the first ‘Alien’ film with the non-stop action of the second, it’s going to be a scary thrill ride that will blow people back in their seats.”
This marks a 180 from the other week when Hawley indicated the project was unlikely to move forward and Fox film executives had rejected Hawley and FX’s pitch to develop a series.
