Barack Obama has given rapper Drake his official ‘stamp of approval’ should the rapper’s ambition of playing the former U.S. President in a biopic present itself as an opportunity.
Drake started his career acting in “Degrassi: The Next Generation” and first expressed interest in playing Obama in 2010 during an interview with Paper.
In a new interview with Complex’s Speedy Morman, Obama says not only has he given Drake his blessing but his daughters would as well:
“I will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants. I mean, that is a talented, talented brother. So if the time comes and he’s ready… Drake has, more importantly, I think, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.”
Obama has been portrayed several times in television and film already with Kingsley Ben-Adir, Devon Terrell and Parker Sawyers all playing the man – but a full biopic has not been made as yet. The recent release of Obama’s memoir “A Promised Land” may change that.
