I read the content but then I realized the writer has a different thought about it. I know for sure what social marketing is, it's just sad that most people online, and some of them are writers like me, are confusing it with social marketing. Since social media has become increasingly popular with everyone, people unconsciously misuse a phrase that has been existent for a long time. Let me do the honor to clarify things up, not just for you, but for other readers as well.

What is Social Media?

As per the dictionary, social media is defined as websites and applications that allow online users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

My take, social media are computer-mediated tools that enable users, individuals, groups or companies, to communicate, formulate, share or exchange information, talk about common career interests, ideas, and perceptions, discuss beliefs and individual principles, share pictures and videos in virtual groups, forums, communities, and networks. Social media are web-based technologies that convert traditional broadcast media monologues into social dialogues. It enables people to not just talk to their customer; it allows them to talk with and interact with their customers in a way that was never made possible before.

What is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is a conversation between a potential buyer and the seller branding and promoting their products and services through social networks, business networks, blogs, forums, bookmarking, video sharing and many more. Just like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, these are just a few of the many social websites where people can market the things they are selling. Social media marketing uses these social platforms to build and promote their business and drive traffic to their own business website.

Social Marketing is the actual implementation of your efforts to efficiently and effectively market your business on the internet through social platforms and social networks. Also, with the help of related strategies that utilize Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing / Monetization, your business will surely become a hit.
What is Social Marketing?

Social marketing is all about behavioral change. Getting people to change their individual behavior, so that it benefits society as a whole. Like, take birth control pills, wear a condom, or use contraceptives to avoid unwanted to avoid pregnancy. Ads or television commercials saying do not smoke, smoking is dangerous to your health, drug abuse can kill, get a cervical screening test to prevent cervical cancer, recycle your garbage, save the trees and endangered species. There are lots of examples I can tell you but the list will just go long.
