Long term plans for “Mulan,” the live-action adaptation of their 1998 animated feature, may have come into a little more focus today.
As previously reported a while back, the film is set to be released from September 4th on the Disney+ service via ‘Premier Access’. Users will have to pay an additional $29.99 to access the film at that time through the service which already charges a monthly subscription.
Then, earlier this month, Disney relaxed their grip a bit and will now release the film for the same $29.99 price on PVOD through in-app purchases on Apple, Roku and Google platforms (not Amazon).
This was all coming ahead of the more regular home video release and eventual release for free to subscribers on the Disney+ platform, but when those releases would happen was not made clear.
Today however comes news via Screen Rant first spotted the inclusion, Reddit and photos on social media such as the ones here and here claiming that the “Mulan” page on the Disney+ service in the UK was updated and says the film will be released “to all Disney+ subscribers on December 4th”.
Checking the Australian page, the date listing is not there with the listing saying only “watch with Premier Access before its release to all Disney+ subscribers”. The information no longer appears according to several posters who’ve checked the page recently.
Disney has not yet commented on the reports or the status of what their plans are for “Mulan” beyond its Premier Access and PVOD release on September 4th.
