Customer complaint of glass in tomato soup prompts company to recall product

A supplier is recalling an unrevealed volume of tomato basil soup because a piece of glass was found in the product.

Fischer & Wieser Specialty Foods is recalling 31.4-ounce jars of H-E-B brand“Creamy Tomato Basil Soup,” according to the company’s recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration.

The recall notice did not provide any geographic distribution details.

“The recall was initiated after a customer notified the supplier that the product contained a glass piece. No injuries have been reported to date. All products related to this recall have been removed from H-E-B store shelves,” according to the recall notice posted today.

However, there is concern that consumers may have unused portions of the product in their homes. The soup is bottled in 31.4-ounce jars. It has a best- by date of 10/14/22, which can be found printed on the jar below the lid. It is lot number 22871.

Consumers can use the following additional information to determine whether they have the product on hand.

Customers who purchased the product can return it to any H-E-B store for a full refund, according to the recall notice.
