“Y Tu Mama Tambien” and “Pan’s Labyrinth” actress Maribel Verdu has joined the cast of Andy Muschietti’s “The Flash” movie at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Verdu will play the key role of Nora Allen, Barry Allen’s mother who plays an important role in the upcoming film. In the comics and series, Nora’s murder when Barry was a child has a massive impact on his life.
Verdu’s casting comes as Billy Crudup has had to drop out of the film due to a scheduling conflict with Apple’s “The Morning Show”. Crudup played Barry’s incarcerated father Henry Allen briefly in 2017’s “Justice League”.
Verdu joins returnees Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West along with Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as multiverse versions of Batman.
Filming on “The Flash” is currently in pre-production ahead of a filming start next month in England.
