Coronation Street spoilers: Leanne Battersby is devastated after lying about dying Oliver

Long suffering Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) is about to take another harrowing hit as she keeps being hit with the reality of Oliver’s situation.

She has been struggling to cope in Coronation Street following the news that Oliver has mitochondrial disease and the condition is terminal.

After falling apart, those who love her as well as a mother who has shared her experience helped her through her initial agonising denial and she is trying to take practical steps to ensure Oliver’s happiness and welfare such as small breaks and finding him a school that will suit his needs.

As she and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) make a visit to a school that may cater to Oliver in the hope of getting him a place, Leanne feels positive that they are doing something good for their son.

But when she then bumps into a mother she befriended at an antenatal class, they catch up and she asks how Oliver is getting on. Leanne feels her stomach plummet but she covers and tells her friend that he’s absolutely fine.

Back done, she cracks and tells sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor) that she feels ashamed with herself for lying about her son and trying to ignore the truth about his future.

As Toyah feels for her sister, she offers her comfort but there is only so much that can be said to help Leanne who has been served with another wake up call that she is going to lose her beloved child.

With a devastating future ahead of her, is Leanne strong enough to get through every parent’s worst nightmare?
