Yasmeen Nazir’s (Shelley King) trial commences in Coronation Street tonight (December 2).
Viewers of the ITV soap have been eagerly awaiting the legal proceedings, in the hope that Yasmeen will be able to get justice for what Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) put her through.
However, Geoff wastes little time in painting himself as the victim upon taking to the stand, as he claims that Yasmeen is a violent alcoholic.
He also claims that she lunged at him with a broken bottle in a nasty attack.
Yasmeen is outraged by his lies, but will the jury believe him?
That remains to be seen, but as the legal proceedings get underway, Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) heads off to visit mum Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox), who has been missing for months.
The police informed him during the previous episode that Elaine had been found in a psychiatric hospital.
Will he be able to convince her to give evidence in court?
Elaine’s testimony could well be the one thing that would secure Yasmeen her freedom, but will she be able to face abusive Geoff?
Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7:30pm on ITV.
