A long-in-development event series adaptation of Dan Simmons’ Hugo Award-winning four-volume novel series “Hyperion” is now being retooled into a movie.
Actor/producer Bradley Cooper is launching a new production banner with Weston Middleton with the first project to be the “Hyperion” adaptation which Cooper has been linked to since at least 2015.
The previous incarnation was setup at Universal Cable Productions, GK Films and 22nd and Green with plans to air as a limited series on Syfy. The project has now moved over to Warner Bros. Pictures with Cooper and Graham King’s GK Films remaining attached.
The story is set on the eve of Armageddon with the entire galaxy at war. Seven pilgrims set forth on a voyage to seek the answers to the unsolved riddles of their lives. Each has a terrible secret, and one may hold the fate of humanity in his hands.
Emmy-winning executive producer Tom Spezialy (HBO’s “Watchmen”) will pen the script and a search for a director is underway. Cooper also has a first-look deal with Netflix where he is making his new film “Maestro”.
