Chris Cuomo’s book pulled by publisher after CNN firing and sexual misconduct allegations

Chris Cuomo’s forthcoming book has been pulled by its publisher following the ethics scandal that led to his firing by CNN over the weekend.

HarperCollins Publishers has dropped Cuomo’s upcoming book, Deep Denial, a spokesperson for the company told the New York Post.

‘I can confirm that we don’t intend to publish the book,’ spokesperson Kelly Rudolph said.

Deep Denial had been expected to be published in the fall of 2022 after its initial January publication date was pushed back. The cover for Cuomo’s book has also been removed from Amazon’s website.

The book was described by Google Books as ‘a provocative analysis of the harsh truths that the pandemic and Trump years have exposed about America — about our strength and our character — and a roadmap of the work needed to make our ideals match reality.’

The news comes a day after Cuomo ended his SiriusXM radio show, and hours after the Wall Street Journal reported that CNN’s president Jeff Zucker told employees the network would not be paying Cuomo severance.

During an employee town hall Tuesday, Zucker told staff he wished Cuomo had taken a leave of absence in May when allegations that he took place in strategy sessions with his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, first came to light.

On Saturday, the 51-year-old host of CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time, CNN’s top-rated show, was fired. Hours later, the New York Times reported that new allegations of sexual misconduct that were made against Cuomo by a former colleague at ABC News.

Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing.

Cuomo was accused of journalistic misconduct for advising his brother as sexual assault allegations piled up against him. The former television anchor reportedly did not reveal the full extent to which he was involved in his brother’s response to his sexual misconduct scandal.

CNN said in a statement: ‘Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately.’

In a statement of his own Cuomo said: ‘This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother.’
