Hot off her Golden Globe nomination for “Nomadland,” filmmaker Chloe Zhao has set her next project – tackling a very different film re-imagining of “Dracula” for Universal Pictures.
This version is described as an “original, futuristic, sci-fi western” version of Bram Stoker’s original story and Universal’s most famous ‘classic monster’. Zhao will write, direct and produce the film through her production company Highwayman.
The movie is said to explore themes she’s regularly tackled in her work like “The Rider,” “Nomadland” and soon “Marvel’s Eternals” – namely the overlooked or misunderstood living on society’s fringes.
