Bioware Abandons “Anthem NEXT” Plans

Having effectively stopped supporting “Mass Effect Andromeda” after a few bug fix patches, BioWare has now opted out of supporting its once hyped sci-fi multiplayer title “Anthem”.

While EA and BioWare intend to keep Anthem’s live service alive for the time being, they have ditched plans to develop the next phase of the project previously dubbed “Anthem NEXT”.

Work began on this fundamental restructuring of the game in late 2019 but with the pandemic and work from home protocols having an impact, they’re now abandoning it and the team of nearly three dozen people are being switched over to work on the fourth title in the “Dragon Age” franchise.

The company will also put more focus on that game and its new “Mass Effect” chapter along with continuing to provide quality updates to “Star Wars: The Old Republic”.
