John Barrowman will return as Captain Jack Harkness for the 2020 “Doctor Who” holiday special “Revolution of the Daleks.”
Barrowman originated the role of the omnisexual time-travelling adventure turned impossible to kill immortal Captain Jack Harkness in the first season of the ‘Who’ revival in 2005. The character was then the lead of the spin-off “Torchwood” for four seasons.
Years after last playing the role, Harkness returned in a brief cameo in last year’s episode “Fugitive of Judoon” though in that scene he only met the Doctor’s companions – not Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor herself. Here he’ll take on a much bigger role though as the episode’s key guest star.
In the episode, Captain Jack arrives to help the companions as they discover a disturbing plan forming involving the Daleks. With the Thirteenth Doctor locked away in a space prison, will Captain Jack be able to help save planet Earth?
