“Archive 81” Cancelled After A Season

Netflix

Netflix has cancelled its recent series “Archive 81” after just one season of eight episodes.

Launched in January, the show followed archivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie), who takes a job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994.

Reconstructing the work of a documentary filmmaker named Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi), he is drawn into her investigation of a dangerous cult at the Visser apartment building.

Evan Jonigkeit, Julia Chan, Ariana Neal, Matt McGorry, and Martin Donovan co-starred in the series from showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine. James Wan, Michael Clear, Rebecca Thomas, Antoine Douaihy, and Paul Harris Boardman executive produced.

The cancellation is seen as an odd one with the series earning not just quite good critical reviews, but making the #2 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list within its first week of availability on the streamer.
