Ron Clements and John Musker, two key Disney animation legends behind the likes of “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin,” are set to adapt the 1962 DC Comics property “The Metal Men” for Warner Animation Group.
The pair are teaming with Celeste Ballard (“Space Jam: A New Legacy”) on the animated feature. Clements and Musker are producing and have written the treatment with the pair eyeing to direct the feature.
The story revolves around a brilliant scientist, William Magnus, and his creations: six highly advanced robots who have powers and personalities associated with their respective metals – gold, iron, lead, tin, mercury and platinum.
The stories have varied in tone from comedic to serious so it’s not clear what kind of film will result from this.
