AMC Theatres has revealed that it will expand its captioning services to more than 240 locations throughout the United States.
A select few locations had already offered captioned screenings of mainstream blockbusters but this greatly expands the number.
These sessions offer the option of screenings for millions of Americans who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as many for whom English is not their native language.
Not all AMC showings will include open captioning – but those that do offer open captioning screenings will do so for any new releases.
Showtimes will be a mix of showtimes and will be adjusted based on demand for the format and customer feedback. Disney and Marvel’s “Eternals” will be the first major release across this expanded availability.
