Alison Brie (“GLOW,” “Promising Young Woman”) will star with John Cena in “Taken” helmer Pierre Morel’s new action-comedy “Freelance” for AGC Studios.
Jacob Lentz’s script centers on an ex-special forces operator (Cena) who, desperate to escape his humdrum suburban life, takes a job providing security for a journalist (Brie) hoping to salvage her career by interviewing a dictator.
A military coup breaks out in the middle of the interview, forcing the pair and the dictator to escape to the jungle where they must survive the military, dangerous animals and each other.
Steve Richards, Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin are producing. Filming begins later this month in Colombia.
