Guillermo del Toro’s new noir feature “Nightmare Alley” will reportedly get a re-release with a color palette more familiar to the genre – shades of grey.
Searchlight Pictures announced on Friday that it will oversee a special limited run of del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” in black-and-white which is being dubbed “Nightmare Alley: Vision in Darkness and Light”.
That version will screen in select theaters across Los Angeles in January including New Beverly Cinema, AMC The Grove, The Landmark, and Los Feliz Theater – American Cinematheque.
del Toro says though the film was shot in color, it was lit as if it were black and white. The Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett-led film opened on Friday to just $1.19 million in ticket sales domestically.
