Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has called for his former club to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma as he has “got everything” you need.
The Gunners were busy in the summer transfer market as they made six new signings. The most high profile of these were Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale, who all joined for significant fees.
Takehiro Tomiyasu, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares also joined Arsenal before the transfer window closed.
Every PL club’s worst-performing regular this season…
Mikel Arteta’s were linked with several more players during the summer. Bissouma was one of the players they were said to be interested in.
The 25-year-old midfielder made the move to the Premier League in 2018 from French outfit Lille.
Bissouma signed a five-year deal at Brighton and he has been an ever-present for them since his transfer. He has already featured 100 times for them across all competitions.
Parlour was full of praise for Bissouma during his latest appearance on talkSPORT. He believes that the Brighton central midfielder is going to be a “top star”:
“I would love to see (Bissouma) at Arsenal, I said that in the transfer window,” Parlour said.
“I think he’s got everything.
“He’s efficient, he can put his foot on the ball, can put his foot in as well, can pass.
“He probably could score a few more goals but he’s not in that position to score goals.
“He’s the one who’s going to keep everything ticking over.
“I’m sure Brighton had to sell one of their players and it was Ben White in the end for £50million.
“But I think he’s going to be a top star. He’s only 25 so there’s lots of time as well.”
Elsewhere, former England goalkeeper David James has suggested that Bernd Leno must “do a lot more” to keep his number one spot at Arsenal:
“Aaron Ramsdale has got an opportunity here to take the number one spot. Bernd Leno, unfortunately, is going to have to do a lot more in training and in the cup games to force his way back in.
“For me, right now, Ramsdale is the ‘keeper of the gloves’.”
