Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted he is yet to speak with Harry Kane over the player’s future.

Spurs’ vice-captain and talisman is set to receive a fine after missing pre-season Covid tests and the first day of training.

It comes amid intensifying rumours over his future, with Premier League champions Manchester City interested.

F365 Says: Liverpool cannot simply rely on Mane return

They’re hoping to make Kane the long-term successor to Sergio Aguero but won’t match Daniel Levy’s £150million asking price.

When asked about the transfer saga, Nuno said: “I will not speak with you about that. I am sorry.

“It is not that I don’t want to comment, what I believe is that all the issue relating to Harry we should discuss internally, among us and try to avoid any kind of public argument or discussion about it.

“Us, we have to focus on what is important. We have to solve the situation but between us.

“We solve the situation internally with the club. Speaking and trying to reach a better solution and conclusion to this situation.”

When asked if he had spoken with Kane, the Portuguese added: “The answer I will give you is I expect to speak with Harry soon and I haven’t had the chance yet.”

The England striker is expected to return to training this weekend. He missed pre-season friendlies against Leyton Orient, Colchester and MK Dons last month after being given a well-earned break following Euro 2020.

Back in May, Kane told Gary Neville that he wanted to be involved in the ‘biggest games’ at club level, and to ultimately win major honours.

Should he remain in north London for the upcoming campaign, then the prolific goalscorer would miss out on the chance to compete in the Champions League.

Spurs finished seventh in the table last term and have therefore qualified for the inaugural Europa Conference League.

Speaking about Kane missing pre-season Covid tests, Neville said on Tuesday: “You have to turn up, you have to respect your teammates. Your teammates in the dressing room, they are all there doing pre-season.

“So I always think that Harry Kane has got to get back in quickly and get back with those lads running around the pitch.

“As much as he wants to leave, as much as he thinks that he might have been hard done to, as much as he is annoyed with the guy who is making the decisions, he has got to get back in with his teammates because they are professional players as well.”
