Michelle Yeoh has joined the cast of “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” the upcoming prequel series to the streamer’s smash hit high fantasy drama “The Witcher”.
The story is set in an elven world 1200 years before the events of “The Witcher” and will deal with the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘conjunction of the spheres’ that merged the worlds of monsters, men, and elves.
Yeoh will star as Scían, the very last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves – no one can come close to her artistry with the blade, and no one carries as much loss within their heart.
When a chance presents itself to retrieve a stolen sacred sword, taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means, she launches herself into a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the Continent.
The “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Star Trek: Discovery” star joins previously announced cast member Laurence O’Fuarain in the limited live-action series which has been handed a six-episode order.
Declan de Barra will serve as executive producer and showrunner alongside Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Yeoh will soon be seen in both “Gunpowder Milkshake” on Netflix next week, and in Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” in cinemas this September.
