The Apple TV+ streaming service has picked up its adaptation of Paul Theroux’s novel “The Mosquito Coast” for a second season.
Starring his nephew Justin Theroux and Melissa George, the renewal comes just days ahead of the seven-episode first season’s finale on June 4th.
The story follows an idealistic inventor, disgusted with the corruption of the civilized world, uproots his family to Latin America and a dangerous quest through Mexico to flee the U.S. government and find safety.
Logan Polish, Gabriel Bateman, Kimberly Elise, James LeGros and Ofelia Medina also star in the series which scored mixed reviews and was criticised for baring narrative or thematic connection to the novel.
Neil Cross (“Luther”) adapted the novel and executive produces while Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) helmed the first two episodes.
