Robert Zemeckis and his ImageMovers label will develop and produce “Moana” scribes Aaron and Jordan Kandell’s original comedy pitch “Mr. Lucky” which is said to be in the vein of “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”.

Inspired by a true story, the high concept rom-com explores luck, and how tragedy and triumph, disaster and fortune are all in the way we choose to view them. Jack Rapke and Jackie Levine are producing. [Source: Variety]

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
An official R rating has been handed out to the upcoming “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” reboot, the rating cited for “strong bloody horror violence and gore, and language.” The new film serves as a direct sequel to the 1974 original, ignoring all the others since.

David Blue Garcia directs using a screenplay penned by Chris Thomas Devlin, while Fede Alvarez produces. Mark Burnham, Olwen Fouere, Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Moe Dunford, Alice Krige and Jacob Latimore co-star. [Source: Film Ratings]

Here Today
The Tiffany Haddish and Billy Crystal-led dramedy “Here Today” has been picked up by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and Stage 6 Films who plan to open it in theaters on May 7th. Crystal directed and co-wrote the film with Alan Zweibel.

Crystal plays a veteran comedy writer going through a tough time in his life when he meets New York singer Emma Payge (Tiffany Haddish) and they form an unlikely friendship that kicks the generation gap aside and redefines love and trust. Never Have I Ever
Oscar-winning rapper-actor Common has officially signed on for a recurring role in the second season of Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s coming-of-age dramedy “Never Have I Ever” which returns this summer.

Common is set to portray the role of suave and debonair dermatologist Dr. Chris Jackson, who will be the love interest to Poorna Jagannathan’s Nalini. [Source: EW]

The Man Who Fell to Earth
Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe,” “Deadpool”) will co-star with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris in Showtime’s drama series “The Man Who Fell to Earth” based on Walter Tevis’ 1963 novel. Clarke Peters and Jimmi Simpson co-star and filming begins this Spring in London.

Ejiofor plays Dr. Thomas Jerome Newton, an alien from another planet who lands in New Mexico. Delaney is Hatch Flood, the screw-up scion of a tech family who becomes enmeshed in Newton’s life. Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet are serving as showrunners with Kurtzman directing multiple episodes. [Source: Variety]
