Ejiofor Melling Ngo Join Netflixs Old Guard

The Chiwetel Ejiofor-led new series adaptation of “The Man Who Fell to Earth,” originally developed for the Paramount+ service, is moving to Showtime.

The move is the second half of a kind of ‘prisoner exchange’ between the two outlets, with the long-awaited “HALO” series adaptation moving from Showtime to Paramount+ the other week.

David Nevins, chairman-CEO of Showtime Networks, says the platform swap was driven by the realization “HALO” was shaping up to be more of a broad-appeal four-quadrant drama than the more niche and “purely adult” appeal ‘Man Who Fell’.

The latter hails from “Star Trek: Discovery” duo Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet who are basing the new take more on the 1963 Walter Tevis novel than the Nicolas Roeg 1976 movie adaptation with David Bowie.
