Prince Charles has dodged questions about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview today with a ‘nervous chuckle’ as he was seen for the first time since its broadcast.

The Prince of Wales 72, was asked about the Oprah Winfrey interview as he completed a public appearance outside a pop-up vaccination centre in north-west London. In a clip from the site, a reporter can be heard saying: ‘Sir, what did you think of the interview?’, as Charles walks past.

Journalists said the Prince, who was wearing a face mask at the time, laughed off the question with a ‘nervous chuckle’.

Charles has not yet officially responded to any of Harry and Meghan’s claims. During the interview, he was singled out for criticism by the Duke of Sussex, who said his father had stopped returning his calls.

Harry said of their relationship: ‘I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like.’

He added: ‘I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened. And I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship.’

Harry and Meghan also alleged that an unnamed member of the Royal Family had expressed ‘concerns’ over how dark Archie’s skin colour might be before he was born. The couple did not identify the person, but Harry told Oprah off-camera that it was not the Queen or Prince Philip.

Today Charles toured Jesus House, in Brent Cross, meeting NHS and church staff working on the vaccination pop-up clinic, as well as community members due to receive their jab.

During the visit he chatted to the workers, including one woman who said she was from Nigeria. He told her: ‘Oh fantastic, yes, I’ve been there. Lots of different ethnic groups. Do give them my kind regards next time you speak to them.’

Another woman, who only gave her name as Grace, claimed she briefly spoke to Charles and praised him for visiting the site despite the ‘family drama’ currently taking place.

She continued: ‘He was quite interactive with the people in there in spite of all the drama going on. He took the time to come out here. I’m very happy he came out to encourage us to take the vaccine as well.’

Grace highlighted that Charles had visited a ‘black church’ to learn about the community’s work to combat vaccine hesitancy in the area. She added: ‘All that effort and someone turns around and says there’s racism, I don’t believe that.

‘Every family has issues, I don’t think it’s right for anyone to wash their dirty linen in public.’

Earlier today it was revealed that Boris Johnson had now watched Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, but wouldn’t be sharing his thoughts on it.

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister said: ‘He did [watch it] but you have the PM’s words from the press conference last night and I won’t be adding any further to what he said.’
