Sam Allardyce’s West Brom have been linked with a move for Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne in their recruitment search.

The Baggies are in need of reinforcements to improve their squad in January.

They’re thought to be targeting a new striker to give them more threat going forward.

According to Sky Sports, Galatasaray’s Diagne is the latest player to be monitored.

The report states that West Brom are hoping to sign him on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

A permanent transfer would depend on their ability to remain in the Premier League.

Diagne wants to be playing in the top flight after appearing in the Champions League on loan last season.

Diagne is a 29-year-old striker who has been in good form so far this term.

He’s bagged 11 goals in 18 matches for the Turkish side. That includes three goals in his last two appearances.

The player represents Senegal on the international stage. He is contracted with Galatasaray until June 2023.

Diagne’s club are willing to cash-in at the end of the season if they receive a sufficient price.

The player could form a solid partnership with Karlan Grant up front. That would suit Allardyce’s preferred 4-4-2 formation.

The Baggies also have Callum Robinson going forward. The Ireland international joined from Sheff Utd in September and has scored three goals so far.

Allardyce has previously revealed that he is hoping to be ‘extremely busy’ during the transfer window. Speaking on Monday, he said: “It’s a part of our process now to work tirelessly on outs and ins until the end of January. There’s no point me beating about the bush, everybody knows what we need to do.

“We need to bring players in this window, everybody does. We need players in more than anyone else in the Premier League to give us a chance of moving out of the position we’re in.”

West Brom have brought in two players up to this point. Robert Snodgrass and Andy Lonergan have both joined their relegation fight.
