Jack Monroe has revealed she received vile messages from trolls telling her to ‘kill herself’ following the death of her cat.
The food writer was devastated when her cat Pretzel died following a seizure.
Unfortunately, the 32-year-old has since had death threats from online trolls but vowed to fight back by doing some ‘serious living’.
She tweeted: ‘People in my DMs telling me to kill myself. I may be vulnerable and hurt, but I’m also extraordinarily petty, and nothing motivates me to pull round like the knowledge that it will really. piss. you. off.
‘Pass me the celery juice and yoga b****es, I’ve got serious living to do.’
Jack announced her pet’s death with a sweet eight-minute long video tribute.

‘Sophie (Pretzel) had a seizure today and died in my arms. I know a lot of you adored her too so I feel I should tell you but I’m not sticking around to read horrible, nasty replies because my heart is broken and I am overwhelmed with grief,’ Jack tweeted.
The video, also shared on YouTube, was filled with adorable pictures and clips of Jack and Pretzel together.

’15 days ago on 30th June 2020, she staggered into my kitchen on her wobbly legs and she curled up in the hollow of my chest where my heart used to be and she stretched and snuggled and kneaded and snoozed and she filled it right up again,’ she said.
Jack explained in the video that Pretzel had a ‘mangled paw’ and vets were looking into what they could do to ‘make life easier’ for the kitten.
Vets suggested putting Pretzel to sleep, but Jack said no.
Jack then recalled: ‘When she woke a while later, she staggered from the chair to my bed and collapsed on one side. I held her to my bare chest, where she loved to be, and stroked her head as she passed away peacefully.’
‘Thank you for your brief, beautiful stumble into my heart, I’ll keep you there forever.’
