Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy appeared at the Disney investor day conference today and confirmed that the James Mangold-directed “Indiana Jones 5” will begin shooting this Spring.
78-year-old Harrison Ford will return as the famed archaeologist for the final outing of the archaeologist character which is expected to hit theaters in July 2022. Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce while Steven Spielberg will executive produce after directing the first four films in the franchise.
That wasn’t the only Lucasfilm announcement though with confirmation that “Willow” is on the way for 2022 on the Disney+ service. Warwick Davis will return in the role of Willow Ufgood from Ron Howard’s 1988 film with Jon Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians”) directing the pilot. Filming begins in March in Wales.
Finally Lucasfilm will partner with 20th Century Studios on the coming-of-age adventure “Children of Blood & Bone” based on Tomi Adeyemi’s New York Times bestselling novel.
The story will center around a young African girl’s heart-racing quest to restore magic to her forsaken people, the Maji.
