Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) have their hearts set on becoming foster parents in Coronation Street but with the tragic illness of Oliver, Toyah’s nephew who has mitochondrial disease, everything has been thrown into chaos.
Toyah feels like she can’t in all good conscience press ahead with the process while Leanne (Jane Danson) is going through so much but Leanne recently gave her sister her blessing to carry on.
Things have been looking up, with Toyah and Imran’s initial assessments going well – but when Imran has his one on one with social workers, he arrives home with worrying news.
A downbeat Imran tells Toyah that his assessment with social services didn’t go as well as he’d hoped and he worries he may have scuppered their chances.
The pair try and keep their hopes up but soon a major distraction comes with the terrible news that Oliver is being put on life support.
Ahead of the family trip away, Oliver suffers another seizure and is taken to hospital and doctors break the news that it is serious.
Leanne is adamant that everything will be okay and Oliver will be coming home but Steve (Simon Gregson) and Nick (Ben Price) are not so sure.
With Oliver’s life hanging in the balance, so does Toyah and Imran’s own desire to become parents. If Oliver were to lose his battle at this stage, how could they possibly proceed when Leanne has lost the thing most dear to her?
Is the entire family about to be destroyed?
