There has been an extended transfer window this summer due to the impact of coronavirus, which has led to many teams opting not to spend as much as they typically would. That has seen clubs such as Manchester United venture into the free agency to sign Edinson Cavani, and that could be a path a number of clubs opt to take next summer with a wealth of talent likely to be available.

Bringing in new superstars will no fee will be huge for clubs, and could mean that they will be tipped by https://bet-pa.com/ to achieve something special in 2021-22. But, which players could become free agents next summer?

Lionel Messi

The future of Lionel Messi was one of the biggest talking points over the summer months, and the talk surrounding his future only looks set to continue throughout the season. Messi was reportedly close to joining Manchester City during the recent transfer window, as he thought that there was a clause in his contract to let him go for free.

However, no such clause existed, and when Barcelona threatened legal action, the legendary player decided that it was the best decision for him to stay at the club for one more season. Messi’s future will be up to him next summer as his contract will expire in June next year, which could mean his long-awaited reunion with Pep Guardiola could finally happen.

Sergio Aguero

The player that could make way for Lionel Messi’s arrival at Manchester City could be the Citizen’s record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero. Aguero has won nearly everything that there is to win at the club, as he has won four Premier League titles, five League Cups and one FA Cup since being at City.

However, his current contract will expire at the end of the current season, and there has been no word yet whether the club will decide to extend his stay. Aguero has been plagued with injuries over the last couple of seasons, but he has still scored over 20 goals in five of the six previous seasons. The city’s loss will certainly be another team’s gain if the club reluctantly allows him to leave the club.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

One of the world’s best young goalkeepers will also be available for discussions in January, as his contract will also expire in June. If reports are to be believed, then the club is trying to tie him down to a new long-term deal, but this has not been the first time that he has been near the exit door.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in world football, and there will be a number of teams queuing up for his signature. The Italian has kept at least ten clean sheets in each of the previous five seasons and is already the first choice goalkeeper for Italy. Chelsea is one of the teams that have been looking for a new goalkeeper to be their number one, and Donnarumma could fit the bill.
