At 10:00am Pacific time (1pm Eastern) on Tuesday, October 13, Apple will hold its second live event in less than a month—almost certainly to announce new iPhones this time, after the previous event focused on iPads and the Apple Watch.

Ars Technica will be liveblogging the event and publishing the major announcements in real time as usual. Return to this page when the event starts to follow the updates.

This event carries the tagline “Hi, Speed,” which could refer to any number of things: 5G modems in new phones, the faster A14 chip that was already introduced last month, or even Apple Silicon in the first non-Intel Mac in many years.

It has been the norm over the past few years for Apple to announce new iPhones in September, but it seems that the pandemic affected the company’s plans—making this event the big one this fall. Per various reports, we’re expecting four different iPhones—two successors to the iPhone 11 and successors each to the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. It’s also possible Apple will announce which Mac product line will make the big jump from Intel CPUs to Apple-designed, ARM-based chips.

Other potential announcements include a new Apple TV 4K, location-based tags to compete with Tile, new AirPods-branded headphones, a HomePod device, and final availability info for macOS Big Sur, Apple One, and Apple Fitness+.

Bookmark this page and come on back a few minutes before the event’s start time—we’ll share everything live as it comes through.
