The Philippines often comes up in conversations concerning the best locations for vacations, but why? What’s in the Philippines that other countries don’t have? Is there a real reason to visit the Philippines besides saying you did?
Unsurprisingly, yes! The Philippines can offer the best vacation, it just depends on if you’re willing to sit down and take some time to learn about the best places to go, the best activities to participate in, and the best places to stay.
Fortunately for you, I’ve taken some notes about the best things to do before and during your trip to the Philippines, so you don’t need to spend hours researching the best activities in the Philippines. With this guide, you can make the most of your vacation with one click!
Be Sure to Prepare For Your Trip
The last thing you want before your departure to the Philippines is to be denied access to the country because you forgot your passport. It happens to quite a few people, though, which is why I threw this tidbit in before we deal with things actually having to do with the Philippines.
And not many people think about their security when travelling either, but I do, which is why I recommend you download a Philippines VPN. With a VPN, you can stay keep you and your devices safe from anywhere in the world.
Head to Boracay
Visiting the Philippines without a trip to the island of Boracay is akin to heresy! The beautiful beaches, made of white sand and crystal-clear water, give off a relaxing vibe matched by no other location in the world.
If you’ve heard of Boracay as a crazy party island, those days are now over. Beachside drinking is now banned on Boracay as is single-use plastic and beach BBQ, among other things. Today, Boracay is a place to relax in peace and quiet.
Spend Some Time in Manila
Manila, the capital of the Philippines, offers more than just miles of bustling city life. Beautiful architecture litters the city, giving off an elegant, yet cozy, vibe.
There are many vendors and markets in the city as well, so if you feel like picking up a souvenir for your trip, Manila’s places to do it. Overall, I recommend starting your journey in Manila.
Climb Mount Pulag
Who said you can’t exercise while on vacation? Hopefully, no one, because Mount Pulag proves the statement wrong.
That said, you’re not going to be hiking up the mountain from the base. Instead, you’ll be transported by Jeep to a village that offers a place to stay/sleep. Once you wake up, you can start your hike up to the top of the mountain (and yes, it will take a few hours and be quite the workout).
Take a Swim at Donsol
The area of Donsol contains a number of whale sharks. In fact, the whole area is dedicated to protecting and conserving them.
This may not sound too interesting on paper, but keep in mind that you’re allowed to swim around these whale sharks. Being whale sharks, you won’t be eaten by them so the only thing you get from swimming with whale sharks is the chance to see their beauty up-close and the opportunity to create an unforgettable story.
AKA, it’s all worth it!
Conclusion
In this list, I only told you about 5 things you can do before and during your trip to the Philippines, but trust me when I say that there are many more activities, places, and landmarks to experience during your trip to the Philippines.
However, this list gives you the best places to start your trip (expect Donsol; maybe save that for last). So, what are you waiting for? Why are you still reading this? Go out there and live a little and explore the Philippines!
