The Endgame is almost upon us — but the team behind the film are asking fans to keep quiet just a little bit longer.
Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo posted a letter on Twitter on Tuesday, asking moviegoers to help protect the film’s spoilers. Addressed to “the greatest fans in the world,” the letter thanks them for their support over the last 11 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and promises a “surprising and emotionally powerful conclusion to the Infinity Saga.”
“Because so many of you have invested your time, your hearts, and your souls into these stories, we’re once again asking for your help,” the Russos write. “When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you. Remember, Thanos still demands your silence.”
This isn’t the first time the Russo brothers have asked fans not to spread spoilers: The pair published a similar letter last year, on the eve of Avengers: Infinity War.
The lead-up to Endgame has been shrouded in secrecy, with even the actors treading lightly. EW’s recent Endgame cover story united the original six Avengers — Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner — for a roundtable interview with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and even they were afraid to inadvertently let something slip.
“I’m gonna have PTSD from this [press tour],” Johansson told EW. “I mean, honestly, it is so stressful. At the end of every day, I lie awake at night and I think about all the things I almost said. It gives me panic.”
Endgame hits theaters April 26.
