Oscars Ratings Rise 56 On Last Year
ABC

This year’s Oscars viewership clocked in at 15.36 million viewers on Sunday, a rise of 48% in audience size from last year and 51% rise in ratings with a 3.2 among adults 18-49 in time zone adjusted fast national ratings from Nielsen.

That number doesn’t include out of home viewing or streaming. Whilst that’s still considerably down compared to the 23.6 million viewers in 2020 and 29.6 million viewers in 2019, it’s an improvement on the 10.4 million viewers and 2.1 rating for 2021’s mid-pandemic, host-less ceremony. It’s still the second least-watched Oscars ceremony since Nielsen began tracking total viewers in the mid-1970s.

Several awards shows suffered extreme ratings drops and dwindling audiences during the pandemic but have more recently bounced back – albeit far from pre-pandemic levels. Both the Emmys and SAG Awards saw notable gains.
