Liverpool forward Sadio Mane “loves Marseille a lot” and he watches all of their games, according to his Senegal teammate Bamba Dieng.

Mane has been with Liverpool since the start of the 2016/17 season. He has played over 250 times for the Reds as he has won the Premier League and Champions League.

The attacker has also competed for trophies internationally. In 2019, his Senegal side were runners-up at the African Cup of Nations.

Senegal went one better earlier this year as they beat Mohamed Salah’s Egypt in the final on penalties.

Dieng plays for Marseille and he scored twice at the African Cup of Nations.

The 21-year-old has praised Mane as he suggested that the Liverpool star is “happy to speak about Marseille”:

“He’s an exceptional player. Sadio is someone who works hard in training and you can see it in his games,” Dieng said (via Sport Witness).

“He’s also someone who gives us a lot of tips. In training, on penalties, he calls me, gives me ideas. He wants us to go forward, to progress.

“He also loves OM a lot. He told me he watches all the OM games. As soon as we arrive in the national team, he’s happy, he speaks about Marseille. I’d like for him to join us and play here one day.”

Elsewhere, according to reports, Liverpool are interested in signing Lille youngster Amadou Onana.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined the French champions from Hamburg last year for a reported £6.3m fee.

He has made 31 appearances in his debut season at the club and has featured in all seven of their Champions League matches in 2021/22.

The Reds are looking at new midfield options, and the Belgian midfielder is on the club’s shortlist, according to French journalist Ignazio Genuardi (via Sport Witness).

The Premier League giants are ‘following the performances’ of the defensive midfielder.

Onana stated in an interview that he has ambitions to follow in Divock Origi’s footsteps after his compatriot swapped Stade Pierre Mauroy for Anfield in 2014.

He said: “They [Origi and Eden Hazard] are players who have had very good careers, who are now at Liverpool and Real Madrid. If things go that way for me, sign me up immediately”.
